#blogElul 14 - REMEMBER
On the Western shore of Tuscorora Lake, we remember Lake Mendota.
We remember the morning sunlight dancing on the water.
We remember running down the steps to the lake.
We remember meals on the porch with the lake in view.
We remember cheese, crackers, and fruit lunches.
We remember peanut time on the pier.
We remember the sound of the wake from motor boats pulling water skiers.
We remember paddling canoes and rowing dinghys.
We remember moon rises and moon paths.
We remember Moonlady* at her mooring.
We remember sailing the sunfish and capsizing close to shore.
We remember "Olympic" routines on the tube.
We remember geraniums, petunias, clematis, carefully tended.
We remember bird feeders, chickadees, blue jays, mourning doves, and squirrels.
We remember, we re-enact, we delight in happy memories.
*Moonlady was my grandparents' sailboat, named for my grandmother Diana.
