#blogElul 14 - REMEMBER

On the Western shore of Tuscorora Lake, we remember Lake Mendota.

We remember the morning sunlight dancing on the water.

We remember running down the steps to the lake.

We remember meals on the porch with the lake in view.

We remember cheese, crackers, and fruit lunches.

We remember peanut time on the pier.

We remember the sound of the wake from motor boats pulling water skiers.

We remember paddling canoes and rowing dinghys.

We remember moon rises and moon paths.

We remember Moonlady* at her mooring.

We remember sailing the sunfish and capsizing close to shore.

We remember "Olympic" routines on the tube.

We remember geraniums, petunias, clematis, carefully tended.

We remember bird feeders, chickadees, blue jays, mourning doves, and squirrels.

We remember, we re-enact, we delight in happy memories.

*Moonlady was my grandparents' sailboat, named for my grandmother Diana.

#blogElul 12: TRUST

During vacation, I wrote in my journal instead of directly online.

Trust.jpg

A transcription---

To trust trust, surrender and allow. To open to what will come. To be willing to be in the unknown. To know that all is well no matter how painful or difficult. To have faith in the journey, the unfolding.

This is the trust that I know, that I live, that I trust.

And then, too, there is control: the need to grasp and manage and stress over and fuss. This attempt at control, I am learning, often goes hand in hand with an absence of trust.

Breathing In.......TRUST

Breathing Out....control

Breathing In........I Trust.

Breathing Out....I surrender and release control.

#blogElul 11: COUNT

I took Count as in invitation to practice one of the first meditations I learned, long before I even realized it was a meditation. It has served me well in many settings, in many phases of my life, and it remains one of my favorites:

Breathing in, One. Breathing out, Two.

Breathing in, Three. Breathing out, Four.

Breathing in, Five. Breathing out, Six.

Breathing in, Seven. Breathing out, Eight.

Breathing in, Nine. Breathing out, Ten.

Breathing in, Five. Breathing out, Four.

Breathing in, Three. Breathing out, Two.

Breathing in, One. Breathing out, Zero.

And Repeat.

A Pause in the Action

I am going on vacation and will be going offline while I am away. I will most certainly be continuing with the BlogElul prompts, and when I return, my plan is to find ways to transfer what I write (and draw) offline into this format, to pick up where I left off.

I will be back online Sunday, August 25, and I will probably send out an email then to let you know I've returned.

Thanks so much for reading!
